On May 22, 2025, representatives from Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) visited the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University (WKITU) for a meeting with students. The main objective of the event was to strengthen collaboration between the university and the industry, provide students with career guidance, and acquaint them with current labor market requirements.

KPO was represented by leading professionals from the fields of human resources, training, corporate governance, and translation services, including:

As part of the event, a dedicated session was held with 3rd– and 4th-year students of the “Translation Studies” program at the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies at the Institute of Education and Management of WKITU.

During the meeting, students received comprehensive insights into KPO’s operations, professional requirements for translators, internship opportunities, and training programs. Drew Weaver provided a detailed overview of the company’s structure, internal management system, and career opportunities, and spoke about the realities of working in a multicultural environment, as well as the expectations placed on future professionals. His presentation offered students a clearer understanding of how to succeed in an industrial setting.

Specialists from each department gave in-depth presentations about their respective areas of work, sharing practical information on career paths and expectations within the company. Alina Ayabova outlined KPO’s internship and training programs, emphasizing that students would have the chance to work on real projects and apply their academic knowledge in a professional context. Representatives from the translation department discussed the nuances of technical translation, working in a trilingual environment, and the professional competencies required.

Students actively engaged in the Q&A session, receiving clear and informative answers from the company’s experts. As a token of appreciation, KPO presented memorable gifts to the most active participants, adding a motivating and positive atmosphere to the event.

At the conclusion of the meeting, WKITU and KPO reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their partnership, providing students with valuable internship and career development opportunities. Events like this serve as an important platform for students to gain professional orientation and realistically evaluate their career prospects.
