The Unified National Testing (UNT) was introduced in Kazakhstan in 2004. Testing is the primary method for assessing the knowledge of individuals wishing to enter higher education institutions in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The number of subjects at the UNT remains the same. Applicants in 2026 will be tested in three compulsory subjects and two subjects to choose from.
“Thus, the number of tasks for the UNT-2026 remains unchanged – 120, including 20 tasks on the “History of Kazakhstan”, 10 tasks on “Reading literacy”, 10 tasks on “Mathematical literacy” and 40 tasks in two specialized subjects. The maximum number of points also remains unchanged – 140 points.
The testing time is 4 hours (240 minutes). It is important to note that an additional 40 minutes will be saved for children with special educational needs. Applicants who have chosen creative directions, as in previous years, take the UNT in two subjects: “History of Kazakhstan” (20 tasks, threshold score – 5) and “Reading literacy” (10 tasks, threshold score – 3). The time to complete the tasks is 70 minutes. Creative exams will be held at universities.
