On February 9, 2024, the department of “Foreign languages and translation studies” of the Education and Management institute, West Kazakhstan Innovative-Technological University hosted the seminar “Effective teaching of translating using innovative technologies”. The seminar was attended by the director of the vocational college of the J. Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University Kanybek uulu Ardakbek, teachers of special subjects Zheenalieva Nazda Nadyrbekovna and Maksatbekova Begayim Maksatbekovna, the head of the English language department of the J. Dosmukhamedov Higher Pedagogical College Mukhtarova Sh. E., the director of the Oral Higher Humanities College of Economics Gabdullina Z.M., the deputy director for Educational activitiies Kadyrgaliev B.A., teaching staff and students of the institute.
The aim of the seminar – to discuss current issues of domestic translation studies and improve the professional skills of future translators through the effective use of modern, innovative technologies in teaching translation.
At this seminar, associate professor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation studies, Candidate of Philology Matzhanova G.Zh. presented the prospects for audiovisual translation in Kazakhstan, talked about the fact that video materials and foreign films are translated directly from English into Kazakh and highlighted the translation demand for the native language; senior lecturer, Master of Philology Bakhitzhanova A.B. informed about the innovative translation technologies used at the university such as CAT, Smartcat. Senior lecturer, Master of pedagogical sciences Ishangalieva K.S. introduced the seminar participants to the educational programs of the Institute of Education and Management. During the seminar, vice-rector for scientific research work and international relations of WKITU Zhubantaev I.N. pointed out the possibility of creating a joint educational program with the Zh. Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University. The guests from Kyrgyzstan expressed their opinion that such joint events will be continued in the future.
