On March 17 of this year, the Aktobe Regional Museum of Local History and the Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov jointly held a republican scientific and theoretical conference “national liberation uprising led by Yeset Kotibaruly: prerequisites, results, lessons” in Aktobe. As part of the events, a monument to the famous batyr Yeset Kotibaruly, one of the leaders of the Kazakh national liberation movement of the XIX century, was unveiled.

In this regard, Kurmanalin Samat Bakitzhanovich, professor of the West Kazakhstan Innovation and Technological University, candidate of historical sciences, took part in the conference by special invitation and made a presentation “Yeset Kotibaruly and the Kazakh uprising against imperial colonization (1847-1858)”.

The conference was attended by scientists researching the issues of the national liberation movement in the history of Kazakhstan. In particular, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor A.K. Muktar (Atyrau), Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor S.Oteniyaz (Almaty), Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Zh.O. Eserkepova (Almaty).
