On April 29, 2024, at the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies, together with stakeholders, a meeting of the Academic Committee was held on the development and updating of educational programs 7M01702–Foreign language: two foreign languages, 7M01707–Russian language and literature in schools with non-Russian language of instruction, 6В01702–Foreign language: two foreign languages, 6В01703–Russian language and literature with non-Russian language of teaching, 6В02301–Translation studies for the 2024-2025 academic year. Faculty, students, magistrands, graduates, representatives of secondary schools and public organizations took part in the discussion of the EP. Present as representatives of schools were the director of secondary school No. 40 Bakytzhanova A.S., the director of school-lyceum No. 38 Suyiyngalieva A.Zh., teacher-researcher of the “Gymnasium of Aesthetic Directions” Kim E.V., teacher-moderator of the “Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics”, head of the educational organization of English Language Teachers Kuanyshkalieva A.T., teacher-moderator of Gymnasium No. 42 “Ak Niet” Utegenova B.D., director of the International translation agency “K&K” Karabalina A.V.
During the meeting, the educational programs of the department were reviewed, changes and adjustments were made in some EP disciplines. For example, it was proposed to include the following disciplines in EP 7M01702–Foreign language: two foreign languages: “Communicative methods of teaching foreign languages”, “Methodology of scientific research”, and also in the content of EP 6B02301–Translation studies it was proposed to include the discipline “Practice of audiovisual translation”, “Practical English grammar (advanced level)”. The work of improving educational programs according to these and other recommendations of stakeholders will continue, and by the end of the academic year, improved EP will be entered into the Register.
