On November 4, 2024, Mirkhat Zhanbolatovich Akhtarov, Master of Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Lecturer, gave a guest lecture for the students of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies on “Effective Teaching and Learning: Key Features of the Updated English Language Programme”.
The lecture highlighted modern methods and approaches to teaching foreign languages, including interactive teaching, methods of motivating students to develop their oral skills, as well as the peculiarities of using information technologies in the learning process.
At the beginning of the lecture, the participants were introduced to the main directions of the renewed foreign language teaching programme. Special attention was paid to communicative teaching, CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) method and the effectiveness of the project approach. In addition, students worked in small groups, performing practical tasks in English, such as organizing thematic discussions and analyzing cases using the “Critical Thinking” method.
At the end of the lecture, the participants presented their work and discussed how the proposed methods could be applied in their own pedagogical practice. During the feedback, the participants noted the relevance of the presented methods. Most of them highly appreciated the effectiveness of interactive tasks and expressed their willingness to implement them in the educational process.
The guest lecture was held at a high level. The participants not only deepened their knowledge of new training methods, but also acquired practical skills necessary for their application. Feedback was organized using the “Open Feedback” method, during which the majority of participants noted that the lecture was informative and inspiring.
