Senior Lecturer of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering, Master of Technical Sciences Uteeva T.N. conducted a practical open lesson for the students of group ND-21 O in the discipline “Fundamentals of Oil and Gas Geology” on the topic “Main Categories of Wells in Oil and Gas Drilling.” The main objective of the lesson was to reinforce students’ theoretical knowledge, introduce new concepts, and increase their interest through the use of modern digital platforms.

During the lesson, students became familiar with different types of wells used in the oil and gas industry. In particular, the features of stratigraphic (reference), parametric, structural, exploratory, appraisal, and production wells were discussed. The role and significance of each category in geological research were explained through specific examples, which contributed to a deeper understanding of professional knowledge.

The practical part of the lesson generated particular interest. The instructor effectively used interactive methods, actively engaging students in the learning process. Using the Wordwall platform, students completed tasks where they identified and matched equipment names. These activities helped develop logical thinking and reinforce knowledge.

Additionally, special tasks aimed at mastering new terminology were provided. Students were given professional terms to memorize and use correctly. As part of the activity “How many languages do you know?”, students matched terms in Kazakh, Russian, and English. This contributed to the implementation of multilingual education and comprehensive understanding of professional terminology.

The LearningApps.org platform was also effectively used during the lesson. Various interactive tasks were completed through this platform, allowing assessment of students’ knowledge. The tasks incorporated game elements, making the learning process more engaging and enjoyable.

The open lesson demonstrated the effectiveness of modern teaching methods. The instructor’s professional competence, appropriate use of digital technologies, and effective feedback with students were particularly noted. The lesson successfully achieved its objectives.
