A team of 4th-year students from the educational program “Electric Power Engineering” — Valtchishin N.P., Kazekeshev T.B., Karasaev T.Zh., and Zhumagaziev R.B. — achieved excellent results at the international Olympiad “Hope of Energy,” winning third place under the guidance of Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Energy, Automation and Computer Engineering, L.A. Sadykova.
The event took place from April 22 to 25, 2025, at the Saratov State University of Genetics, Biotechnology and Engineering named after N.I. Vavilov. The Olympiad brought together students from leading universities in Russia and Kazakhstan specializing in electrical engineering. The competition was held with the support of PJSC “Rosseti Volga” at the training complex No. 2 and the Saratov RES training ground. The main goal of the Olympiad was to identify and support talented youth capable of research and industrial activities in the field of electrical engineering.
The Olympiad consisted of theoretical and practical stages. The theoretical part included solving situational problems based on courses in electrical engineering, lighting engineering, power supply, electric drives, and equipment reliability, as well as test tasks on electrical safety. The practical part included: assembling a control circuit for a reversible electric motor, determining the insulation resistance of a 10/0.4 kV operating transformer and preparing it for repair, and installing a self-supporting insulated wire (SIP) at the PJSC “Rosseti Volga” training ground.
This achievement highlights the high level of student preparation and the effectiveness of the educational program of the Department of Energy, Automation and Computer Engineering, contributing to the development of future leaders in the energy sector.
