October 18, 2024 associated professor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation studies, Ph.D. Tikhonyuk Ekaterina Vasilievna held an open study with the group PD-421 (EP 6B02301 Translation studies) in the discipline “English in the field of information technology”. The study was conducted on the topic: “Self-Driving Cars”. Authentic materials were used in the lesson: a CNBC article and a video report from the ABC7 News Bay Area channel. The purpose of the lesson was to improve students’ conversational skills through reading and listening. During the lesson, the teacher was guided by the fundamental principles of CELTA methodology: the lesson was conducted in English to increase the communicative orientation of the educational process; when working with an article and a video report, students were offered various types of tasks (introductory and search reading/listening). At the end of the lesson students discussed the advantages and disadvantages of autonomous cars from different points of view (passengers with disabilities, taxi drivers, activists, etc.)
