Students of the educational programs “Standardization and certification”, “Life safety and environmental protection” visited the monument “Eternal Flame”, opened on May 9, 1980.
The students learned that the Eternal Flame was brought from Mamaev Kurgan, the hero city of Volgograd, Russia, and was lit by Hero of the Soviet Union I.I. Konyakhin, a participant in the defense of Uralsk. Urns with earth taken from mass graves were buried near the wall. The memorial was renovated in 2009 – the marble slabs at the Eternal Flame were replaced, the portraits of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War were updated, and the stele itself was repaired, calling for the help of climbers.
In 2025, Kazakhstan, along with fraternal countries, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War. During these holidays, many events dedicated to Victory Day are planned – festive concerts will be organized, and on May 9, Kazakhstanis will take part in wreath-laying and flower-laying ceremonies at the monuments of the defenders of the Fatherland.
Educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism is one of the most important tasks of modern society. Today, every Kazakhstani should be a patriot of his country, respect his history, and be proud of his heroic people!
