On April 10, 2026, the grand opening of the “Science Decade – 2026” was held in the assembly hall of the Institute of Industry Technologies, dedicated to the Day of Science Workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This professional holiday is traditionally celebrated on April 12 — the birthday of the outstanding scientist and the first President of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Kanysh Satpayev.
The event opened with a vibrant performance by the “Aru” dance ensemble. The Rector of the West Kazakhstan Innovation and Technological University, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Bekbulat Temerjanovich Shakeshev, delivered a welcoming speech. In his address, he emphasized that science is a key factor in the sustainable development of society and in enhancing the country’s competitiveness.
Among the honored guests of the event were:
Abdukarim Rakhimovich Kurbonov and Nazarali Safarovich Salimov — scientists from the Tajik State University of Commerce, who arrived as part of international cooperation;
Gaisa Khamedolovich Kapakov — Head of the Office of the regional branch of the “Auyl” Party in the West Kazakhstan Region.
As part of the opening ceremony, a formal award presentation took place. Members of the faculty and university partners were recognized for their significant contributions to the development of science and education. Guests from Tajikistan were awarded letters of appreciation from the Rector of WKITU. In addition, several преподаватели received letters of appreciation from the Akim of the West Kazakhstan Region and the Akim of the city of Uralsk.
A congratulatory speech was delivered by Gaisa Khamedolovich Kapakov, who presented letters of appreciation on behalf of Serik Rakhmetollaevich Yegizbayev, Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Issues, and Chairman of the “Auyl” Party.
The festive atmosphere was enhanced by creative performances from students and invited artists.
The “Science Decade – 2026” will take place from April 13 to April 24. The program includes international scientific and practical conferences, master classes, intellectual games, and roundtable discussions.
The organization of such events contributes to the development of the university’s scientific potential, strengthening international cooperation, and actively engaging young people in research activities.
