On February 21, 2023, the city Olympiad among 11th grade students was held at the Department of Natural Science Disciplines of the West Kazakhstan University of Innovation and Technology in order to develop intellectual and practical skills of schoolchildren in the subjects of mathematics and computer science.
The purpose and objectives of the Olympiad: to identify and support talented students in the field of mathematics and computer science; to develop logical thinking, analytical abilities and the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice; to increase interest in the study of natural sciences and information technologies.
The event was attended by students of grades 10 and 11 of the Lyceum school №38 named after A.N. Moldagulova, SS №2, SS №5, SS №13, SS №17, SS №19, SS №33, SS №39, SS №40, SS №43, SS №45, SS № 50, Lyceum School №27 named after M. Mametova, Lyceum School №30 named after Khivaz Dospanova.
The Olympiad was conducted in two stages: The theoretical stage, where students solved problems requiring the use of mathematical theories and methods, as well as logical analysis. In the practical stage, participants solved programming tasks using the Python programming language. Additionally, the ability to use algorithmic thinking to solve various problems was assessed.
The citywide Olympiad in mathematics and computer science was a successful event that contributed to the development of students’ academic activities and increased their interest in educational sciences. Most participants demonstrated their high potential for future participation in regional and national Olympiads.
