From November 15 to 17, 2023, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the West Kazakhstan University of Innovation and Technology and the International Week Education, the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation, as well as the Department of Social Disciplines and Physical Culture and TEO public association teachers of English in Oral organized a training seminar on the methodology of teaching history in English titled “Formation of National Identity through Education”. CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) – using the method of subject-language integrated teaching of a foreign language through demonstrating the relationship between history and English language curricula, was introduced to teachers from 15 schools of Oral and 15 district teachers of the West Kazakhstan region. The project received support from FES in Kazakhstan (Fredrich Ebert Foundation), experts from Astana and Almaty, the Beimalim art project, Fulbright ETA Kristina McCarthy, the US Embassy in Kazakhstan, American Corner Oral, Yesenzhanov library, the West Kazakhstan Regional Department of Education, and Oral Department of Education. The training helped participants increase their interest in research work in the field of education, exchange experiences, share thoughts on the formation of national identity, and analyze the main historical events and figures that influenced the development of the country. On the second and third days of the training, second-year students from the Foreign Languages and History Department conducted presentations and actively participated. At the end of the course, participants received certificates from the Director of the Institute of Education and Management, A. S. Tasmagambetov.
