On January 16, 2025, the Department of Petroleum Engineering held a scientific seminar on topical issues in the field of the oil and gas industry, research and innovation in higher education. The seminar became a significant event for teachers and scientists, joining forces to discuss new technologies and prospects in the development of oil and gas fields. The seminar program included a variety of topics reflecting the most important areas of scientific research of the department.

The seminar also presented the results of scientific research on improving high–viscosity oil production technologies in Western Kazakhstan. The speaker was senior lecturer of the department T.N. Uteeva. In the course of the work, new approaches to the extraction and processing of high-viscosity oil were developed and proposed, which is an important step to improve the efficiency of oil producing enterprises in the region.

Another significant topic of the seminar was the presentation of the interim report of graduate student G.E. Kalesheva, which is based on modern methods of analysis and can significantly improve the efficiency of oil extraction with high viscosity.

The scientific seminar of the Department of Petroleum Engineering has become an important event for the exchange of knowledge and experience between teachers. The presented works showed a high level of preparation and relevance of research aimed at solving pressing problems of the oil and gas industry. The innovative approaches proposed by the seminar participants will contribute to the introduction of advanced technologies and increase the efficiency of oil and gas production and processing.
