As part of the Science Week – 2025, a series of scientific and educational events were held at the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University (WKITU) aimed at developing students’ linguistic competencies, as well as strengthening WKITU’s scientific ties with neighboring universities.
- A series of guest lectures
From April 1 to 4, 2025, guest lectures from leading Russian scientists in the field of linguistics were organized for 2nd and 3rd year students studying in the educational programs 6B01702 – Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages and 6B02301 – Translation Studies.
Doctor of Philology, PhD., Head of the Department of English Philology, Samara National Research University named after S.P. Korolev Shevchenko Vyacheslav Dmitrievich presented a course of lectures on the topic of “Lexicology of the English Language”, distinguished by scientific depth and fascinating presentation of the material.
Doctor of Philology, Professor, Senior Researcher of the Institute of Basic Training at the State Transport University of the Volga Region Khalikov Magomed Magomedovich held a course of lectures on the topic of “Contrastive Linguistics”, within the framework of which he covered the key aspects of the comparative analysis of language systems.
- Round table “Innovative methods and technologies in the study of language teaching and translation processes with the participation of young scientists of the department”
On April 1, 2025, a round table was held at the department with the participation of invited scientists and teachers of WKITU. The head of the department, Candidate of Pedagogical sciences, associate professor Kusainova Dina Zhaksygalievna made an opening speech. The following reports were presented at the round table:
- “Features of modern translation activity” – Vyacheslav Dmitrievich Shevchenko, Doctor of Philology, Ph.D., Head of the Department of English Philology, Samara National Research University named after S.P. Korolev;
- “Do we know what linguistics is?” – Magomed Magomedovich Khalikov, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Senior Researcher, Institute of Basic Training, State Transport University of the Volga Region;
- “Borrowing of English words in Russian” – Zhanna Arsenovna Musagalieva, Master of Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Lecturer, Department of Foreign Languages and Translation studies, WKITU;
- “Research interests of Professor Razak Abdrakhmanovich Abuzyarov” – Altynbek Abutalievich Abdulmanov, Candidate of Philology, associate professor, Department of Foreign Languages and Translation, WKITU;
- “The research work of the department’s graduate students is a must” – Karylgash Urazbaevna Kinzhagaliyeva, Master of Foreign Languages, senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies of WKITU.
- A series of presentations by graduate students “Theoretical and practical aspects of language teaching”
On April 3, 2025, an event dedicated to the research activities of the department’s graduate students was held. Ph.D., associate professor Yekaterina Vasilievna Tikhonyuk addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. The following presented their reports:
- “Features of Blended Learning: Research and Analysis” – Musina Akzhibek Akylbekovna, 2nd-year magistrand in the educational program 7M01707 – Russian Language and Literature with a Non-Russian Language teaching, teacher of Russian language and literature (“Zhanakala School-Gymnasium”);
- “Active Forms and Methods of Teaching Russian Language and Literature” – Bektybaeva Aliya Alipkalievna, 2nd-year magistrand in the educational program 7M01707, teacher-researcher, teacher of Russian language and literature;
- “Axiological Discussions in the Study of Pedagogical Realities of the Modern World” – Aubakirova Maria Isaevna, 2nd-year magistrand in the educational program 7M01702, interpreter (ROKPA PLC).
The events held demonstrated the high level of scientific activity of the department, becoming the key to productive scientific dialogue between students, teachers and invited experts.
