On November 26, 2025, a roundtable discussion on the topic “Protection of the Rights of Minors: From Social to Procedural Factors” was held with the participation of the Department of Justice of the West Kazakhstan Region. The event was attended by lawyers and legal consultants of the WKR Bar Association, as well as senior lecturer of WKITU E. A. Karagoyshiyev.

Nicholas Mazik, Head of the Human Dimension Department of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, delivered the welcoming remarks.

Maral Meyrashevna Alisheva, Candidate of Legal Sciences and Scientific Secretary of the Institute of Legislation and Legal Information of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, presented a report titled “Interaction with Minors: The Psychology of Trust and Strategies for Effective Influence in Criminal Proceedings.”

Olga Vladimirovna Ryl, Head of the “Pravo” Public Foundation, delivered a report entitled “Social Aspects and Challenges Related to Minors.”

Bibirnur Kuanishkyzy Muratova, a lawyer of the Astana Bar Association, presented a report on “Practical Aspects in Criminal and Civil Cases on the Protection of the Rights of Minors.”

During the roundtable, legal issues concerning minors were comprehensively discussed, and important recommendations were developed regarding the protection of children’s rights, the improvement of their legal literacy, and the prevention of offenses. The participants emphasized that ensuring the safety of minors and their protection under the law is a shared responsibility not only of state bodies but also of educational institutions, parents, and society as a whole.

Based on the results of the discussion, the need for systematic strengthening of legal education, intensification of informational and educational work in schools and among young people, as well as the expansion of preventive measures related to risks on the internet and social media was identified.

The issues and proposals raised will be directed toward the further implementation of joint activities and concrete projects. The protection of the rights of minors is our common responsibility, and effective cooperation is essential for achieving this goal.
