As part of the implementation of practice-oriented training and strengthening cooperation with judicial authorities, students of the Law Department of the Institute of Industry Technologies attended an open court hearing on a criminal case being considered in the Ural City Court.
The case concerned a crime under article 190 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan — fraud. During the court session, students were able to get acquainted with the trial procedure in practice, evaluate the specifics of the consideration of cases in this category and follow how the procedural norms studied in the framework of the educational program 6B04202 Jurisprudence are implemented.
During the meeting, the students observed:
– statements by the prosecution and defense sides;
– examination of the evidence presented by the prosecutor and the defense attorney;
– interrogation of the victim and witnesses;
– the procedural actions of the judge aimed at ensuring the objectivity and impartiality of the consideration of the case.
At the end of the court session, a discussion took place, during which the teachers of the department noted that such events help students to better understand the essence of criminal proceedings, because the task of our university is not only to give students theoretical knowledge, but also to show how they are applied in practice. Observing real-life lawsuits builds professional thinking and the ability of future lawyers to analyze law enforcement in specific situations.
Attending court sessions has become part of the department’s systematic work to develop students’ practical skills. Such events will be continued, which will allow future lawyers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms of criminal proceedings and increase their level of readiness for professional activity.
