On October 30, as part of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the university and the Police Department, a guest lecture was held for students of the educational program 6B04202 Law, group YR-32O, on the subject of Forensics. The lecture was delivered by Colonel of Police A.A. Salykov, the head of the Investigation Department of the Police for the West Kazakhstan Region, on the topic “The Appointment of Forensic Examinations during Preliminary Investigation. The Role of the Investigator in Criminal Proceedings.”

The lecturer provided detailed insights to the students regarding the role and application of forensics in pre-trial investigations. He discussed the work of the lead investigator in examining crime scenes, assisted by a forensic expert from the Operational and Forensic Department, focusing on the detection, fixation, and seizure of traces of the crime, specifically fingerprints, shoeprints of the offender, as well as traces from the use of firearms and cold weapons, burglary tools, and vehicle traces. He outlined the subsequent appointment of forensic examinations, such as fingerprinting, trace evidence analysis, ballistics, and others, in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, emphasizing the significant importance of these examination conclusions as evidence in investigations.

Ali Bek Asylbekovich provided examples from his practice as an investigator handling serious crimes, as well as cases related to murders, cyber fraud, and drug crimes investigated in our region. The head of the investigative unit highlighted the crucial role of the investigator in the criminal process, noting that this official conducts the investigation and makes the final conclusions based on the gathered evidence. He discussed the technologies used by investigators today, the conditions of their work, and the competitive salaries, mentioning the positive contributions of young investigators who are graduates of our department. He also shared his own experiences as an investigator.

In conclusion, Ali Bek Asylbekovich answered all the students’ questions, wished them success in their studies, and invited them to apply for internships and, upon graduation, to consider working in the Investigation Department of the Police Department.
