On November 18, 2024, a curatorial hour “Bookmark – who tried to survive, but remained behind bars” was held for the students of the YUR–31,33,35 groups by the head of the group, senior teacher, M.Y.N. Sarsenova A. J. The purpose of the curatorial hour is to draw students’ attention to the difficult fate of convicts and warn potential participants about serious consequences.
Synthetic drugs are one of the most dangerous threats to Kazakhstan. In addition to the consequences that harm the health of drug users, this leads to a sharp increase in crime. The number of drug and drug abuse has increased significantly in recent years. The increase in the number of drug couriers is particularly worrying. Through social media, young men and girls, including teenagers, are offered “high-paying” jobs that do not require experience or special skills. They often do not understand either the full danger or the fact that drug trafficking in Kazakhstan is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 10 to 20 years. Kazakhstani prisons are rapidly filling up with convicts for the activities of “guarantors”.
According to official data, currently about 4.3 thousand convicts are being held in institutions of the penal enforcement system for the distribution, storage and production of narcotic drugs. Over the past two years, the number of people convicted of drug trafficking has increased by 30%. Why are Kazakhstani youth being increasingly involved in the drug business and what consequences does this have for their lives? The film is about this.
