In the period from January 08 to January 24, 2024, career guidance work was organized for schools in the city of Uralsk.
Career guidance at school is a set of actions to identify students’ inclinations and talents for certain types of professional activities, as well as a system of actions aimed at forming readiness for work and assistance in choosing a career path.
The purpose of career guidance work at school is to provide career guidance support to students in the process of choosing a study profile and the field of future professional activity, as well as to develop professional self–determination among schoolchildren in conditions of freedom to choose a field of activity, in accordance with their capabilities, abilities and taking into account the requirements of the labor market.
During the career guidance work, explanatory work was carried out on 18 educational programs of the bachelor’s degree, specialty and master’s degree of the Institute of Industry Technologies, as well as on the advantages of studying at the university and on changes in the rules of admission to universities.
Based on the work carried out by the department of admission and career guidance, 5 effective criteria for the qualitative assessment of career guidance at school can be noted:
– sufficiency of information about the chosen profession and methods of obtaining it;
– the need for an informed choice of a future profession;
– the student’s awareness of the social significance of work;
– awareness of students of their capabilities and interests;
– availability of a plan for further steps towards obtaining a profession.
