In the modern world, education is becoming a global process in which students from various countries actively participate. The Institute of Industrial Technologies of the West Kazakhstan University of Innovation and Technology (WKITU) provides unique opportunities for international students, but their successful adaptation to the credit system of education requires a special approach.
The main problems of adaptation
International students face a number of difficulties, which can be roughly divided into the following categories::
- Knowledge of Kazakh or Russian plays a key role in successful integration, but many international students start their studies with limited language skills. This is especially important in the context of the credit system, where independent study of materials is of great importance.
- Differences in cultural traditions, mentality and living conditions can be a serious challenge for students.
- A limited social circle and lack of peer support can lead to feelings of loneliness.
- The credit system of education, which involves independent workload distribution and flexible schedule, can be unusual and difficult to perceive.
Features of the credit training system
The credit system of education provides students with the freedom to choose courses, creates a flexible schedule and focuses on independent work. For international students, this can be both an advantage and a challenge. The need to plan their own education requires a high level of responsibility and time management skills, which are not always developed by students accustomed to a more rigorous education system.
Measures to improve adaptation
For the successful adaptation of international students in the conditions of the credit system of education, WKITU implements a number of measures:
- Preparatory language courses. The organization of intensive Kazakh and Russian language courses helps students overcome the language barrier and better understand the teaching materials.
- Training in the skills of working in the credit system. Conducting introductory seminars and trainings on the organization of independent work, schedule planning and course selection.
- Cultural events. The celebration of national holidays, cultural exchanges and excursions help students to become familiar with local culture and strengthen intercultural dialogue.
- Mentoring. The appointment of curators from among teachers and senior students allows newcomers to receive the necessary support and advice during the adaptation process.
- Psychological support. The Psychological Assistance Center provides counseling for students who are experiencing stress or other emotional difficulties.
6. Integration into student life. Participation in clubs, sports clubs, and research projects helps international students feel part of the university community.
