Veterinary and technosphere safety

West Kazakhstan Innovation and Technology University is one of the largest multidisciplinary universities in the region, which trains highly qualified specialists for the needs of the Urals and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Department of Veterinary Medicine and Technosphere Safety is a structural unit of the Institute of Industrial Technologies of the West Kazakhstan University of Innovation and Technology and trains students in the following educational programs of bachelor’s and master’s degrees:

Educational and methodical work

The purpose of the educational and methodological work of the department is to provide the educational process with the necessary materials, improve the pedagogical skills of teachers, improve the classroom and independent work of students, improve all forms, types and methods of educational work. Educational work is conducted in accordance with the standards and curricula of educational programs. The staff of the department actively participates in educational and methodological seminars on improving the teaching methods of courses according to the profile of the department, new information technologies in education, organizing independent work of students, improving the level of professional and methodological skills.The teachers of the department conduct innovative classes using multimedia technologies, master classes, open classes in the form of business games, presentations, brainstorming, press conferences, debates. The department organized a methodological seminar on the topic: “Innovative teaching methods in education.” The purpose of the methodological seminar of the department is the continuous improvement of the pedagogical skills of teachers, their erudition and competence in the field of biotechnological, technical, chemical, environmental and disciplines. Every year, the teaching staff of the department publishes monographs, textbooks, manuals and methodological guidelines.Training sessions are held at the branches of the department: the West Kazakhstan Scientific Research Veterinary Station of the KazNIVI LLP branch, the Republican Veterinary Laboratory of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ural Agricultural Experimental Station LLP, Shamshyrak SEC, KazStandart LLP, Avencom LLP, Ural Transformer Plant LLP.As part of the academic mobility program, “Visiting Professor”, scientists from universities near and far abroad are invited to the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Technosphere Safety. Field classes are held at the production facilities, branches of the department, as well as practical classes and master classes with the invitation of employers. 

Research work

The teaching staff of the department carries out scientific research in priority areas, in the field of veterinary medicine, technology of processing meat and dairy products, as well as in environmental and chemical areas. The department has a Research Laboratory of Biotechnology, which is a scientific and production complex equipped with modern devices and equipment. The laboratories have devices and equipment for carrying out research work by scientists, teachers, graduate students and students: an ultrasound scanner for determining the pregnancy of animals, diseases of the reproductive organs of females and marbling of meat, an ultrasonic milk quality analyzer “Clover-1M”, a laboratory centrifuge TSLU-1-12, a projection trichinelloscope “Steak”, Draminski 4QM4DQ mastitis detector, Levenhuk 32 monocular microscopes, Fluorate 02-3M liquid analyzer, ionometric liquid analyzer “Ecotest-2000” voltammetric analyzer “Ecotest-VA” with electrochemical module pH meters and ionomers, spectrometric complex “Progress-2000”, analytical scales PA, 2100GXO.01G,ICL, OHAUS, I-160MI complete with ISE, apparatus for dispersing petroleum products ARN-LAB-03, octanometer.A vivarium with a total area of 820 m2 is located on the basis of the biotechnology research laboratory, which is a scientific and production complex that meets international standards, on the basis of which scientific research on biotechnology, embryo transplantation and other priority areas of the veterinary service is carried out. Scientists, graduate students, undergraduates, and university students have the opportunity to conduct practical research, as well as perform laboratory work on animals. To do this, the veterinary clinic contains cattle, small cattle, birds (chickens, quails, pheasants), rabbits, laboratory mice. In general, the availability of this complex contributes to improving the quality of educational services provided and the level of professional competencies of students. On the basis of the research laboratory of biotechnology, there is a vivarium with a total area of ​​820 m2, which is a research and production complex that meets world standards, on the basis of which scientific research in biotechnology, embryo transplantation and other priority areas of the veterinary service is carried out. Scientists, graduate students, undergraduates, university students have the opportunity to conduct practical research, as well as perform laboratory work on animals. For this, the veterinary clinic contains cattle, small ruminants, birds (chickens, quails, pheasants), rabbits, laboratory mice. In general, the presence of this complex contributes to an increase in the quality of educational services provided and the level of professional competencies of students.3 scientific schools have been formed at the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Technosphere Safety. The founders of scientific schools are:1. Bozymov K.K., Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences. The scientific direction is “Improving the reproductive ability of breeding animals in Western Kazakhstan.” Under his leadership, 5 PhD and 1 doctoral dissertations were defended. He is the author of 259 scientific papers, 5 patents, 3 monographs and more than 30 textbooks.He has state awards: Excellent Student of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Order of “Kurmet”, the presidential badge “Barys”, the medal “10 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the badge “For merits in the field of education”. development of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, medal named after Yu. Altynsarina “For significant achievements in the upbringing and retraining of the younger generation.”2. Burakhta V.A., Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor. Scientific direction “Development, creation, implementation of electrochemical sensors based on semiconductor materials”. Under her leadership, 4 PhD and 7 master’s theses were defended in the areas of “Creation of a new type of electrochemical sensors”, “Ecological and analytical monitoring of environmental objects of oil and gas condensate fields”. Burakhta V.A. is the author of more than 200 scientific and methodological works, 7 patents. He has a badge “For merits in the development of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, certificate No. 143 dated 03/25/2009.3. Baitlesov E.U., Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor. Scientific direction “Improvement and implementation of promising methods and biotechnological techniques in cattle reproduction in the Western region of Kazakhstan”. Under his leadership, 2 PhD theses were defended and approved on the problems of camel breeding, the organization of reproduction in beef cattle breeding. In the field of biotechnology and reproduction of the breeding stock in beef cattle breeding, he has published more than 100 scientific papers, including 6 patents, 5 recommendations and scientific and methodological guidelines, 3 monographs and 10 textbooks.Scientific research on scientific projects is carried out at the department: 1. Teachers of the department take an active part in international and national scientific conferences, forums, meetings and take prizes. The teachers of the department publish scientific articles in the rating publications included in the international databases Web of Science, Scopus, as well as in publications recommended by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation; Vestnik ZKITU, actively improve their qualifications with certificates. There are acts of implementation in the educational process and production. Every year, the University hosts international scientific conferences of young scientists, as well as international scientific and practical conferences as part of the implementation of Plans for creative cooperation in joint research work with foreign partner universities.The University successfully operates a Research Center for Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, the main purpose of which is to organize, provide methodological support and ensure the effectiveness of scientific, scientific, practical and innovative activities in the field of veterinary medicine and biotechnology. As part of the work of the Scientific Research Center for Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, scientists, students and undergraduates conduct research, consulting and other types of services in the main areas of the department: veterinary medicine, biotechnology and ecology.Students and undergraduates of the department are actively involved in research work and are members of the circle of the department “Scrabble”. Every year, students of the department take part in the Republican competition of scientific research works of students of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, they are holders of diplomas of winners. Also, students and undergraduates make presentations and take prizes at the republican and regional competitions of innovative projects of students, students and young scientists “INNOVA”, “Gylym sharainasy”, “Parasatty zhas galym”, “We are the energy of the future”, “Science without borders”, in the Republican competition of scientific research works of students “In the world of science”, conducted by the NMC “ZIAT”. Students take prizes in the Republican subject Olympiads among students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

SPK “Shamshyrak” has a modular slaughterhouse (capacity – up to 25 heads in 1 shift) and a feedlot (capacity – keeping up to 1200 heads, including cattle (400 heads), small cattle (800 heads), a farm for keeping livestock during the cold period, pens for outdoor livestock keeping, there are conditions for living and food for students.

Educational work

The purpose of educational work is the formation of a professionally mobile, competitive personality with a creative type of thinking, ready for constant self-education and self-development in conditions of high innovative dynamics in professional activity, with a developed worldview culture, designed to contribute to the implementation of the tasks of socio-economic, humane and moral education of society, capable of preserving peace and harmony between the peoples of the Republic of Kazakhstan.The department draws up a work plan for advisers, which provides for educational activities. On the curatorial clock, discussions are held on the annual messages of the President to the people of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academic policy of ZKITU the law “On Education”. Events dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Victory Day, Nauryz holiday are held.In addition, on the curatorial hours, questions of the state of academic performance and attendance of students are considered, issues of ethics and culture of behavior, a healthy lifestyle, and the prevention of offenses. Every year, students meet with employees of the drug treatment center, medical institutions and law enforcement agencies. Students of the supervised groups take an active part in university events: “Dedication to Students”, “Autumn Ball”, “Student Spring”.
