In recent years, the art of archery as a national sport has been rapidly developing in the Republic. Athletes of the West Kazakhstan region also make a great contribution to the development of this sport.

On 11/18/2024, in the tourist equestrian sports center “Nur-Er”, an open city youth Jamboree tournament “Ulttyk sport Turleri” was held, organized by the sports club of the State Agricultural Committee “Oral”. Oksana Aruzhan – 1st year student of OP 6B10903 – Veterinary Medicine of IOT ZKITU took part in the tournament and took the honorable II place in the game of Jamba ata in the Turkish style.

Jamby atu is one of the oldest Kazakh national games. To participate in the game, the shooter needs a racehorse and a bow. Thanks to this game, young athletes have the opportunity to demonstrate accuracy, belligerence and courage. There is a word “mergen” in the rich Kazakh language. Since ancient times, the art of sniping has been considered invaluable for the ulus. Therefore, to protect the Kazakh people, the nomads taught the younger generation archery. Jamba atu game – used by nomads to improve the sniper abilities of warriors. The main purpose of the traditional game is: firstly, to improve combat training, secondly, to identify and encourage the best snipers in the country, thirdly, to create a special group of distinguished snipers and use them as law enforcement agencies to protect the country.

We are proud of Aruzhan’s victory and hope that by her example, students of our university will honor the national traditions of the Kazakh people and strive to be in the forefront.
