On February 11, 2025, an open discussion “Women in Science, Education, and Business: Projects and Solutions for the BRICS Economy” was held at Tambov State Technical University. The event was attended by representatives of the university and business community, heads of educational programs, as well as representatives of women’s associations working in scientific and professional fields. Among the invited guests were teachers of the Department of Energy, Automation and Computer Engineering, who presented their achievements and shared their experience in training specialists for the energy industry.

During the discussion, key issues were raised:

  • the role of women in scientific, innovative and educational activities;
  • Opportunities to enhance international cooperation in the field of science and education;
  • The role of mentoring and professional associations in bridging the gender gap.

Within the framework of the event, a joint report “Interstate Network: a women’s perspective on training specialists for the Energy sector of Russia and Kazakhstan” was presented, prepared by Senior lecturer of the Department of Electric Power Engineering of Tambov State Technical University A.N. Terekhova, Associate Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Department of Energy, Automation and Computer Engineering of the West Kazakhstan Innovation and Technology University L.A. Sadykova and senior lecturer G.S. Utesheva.

The report examined the issues of training highly qualified specialists for the energy sector of Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as the role of women in the development of engineering education. The speakers shared their experience in organizing educational programs, interuniversity cooperation and the introduction of modern technologies into the educational process.

The discussion became part of the initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technology, as well as events dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Representatives of Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Algeria, Belarus, Turkey and Uzbekistan took part in the discussion.

Participation in the discussion contributed to the strengthening of international cooperation, the exchange of experience with colleagues from other countries and the discussion of prospects for further cooperation in the field of training specialists for the energy industry. The teachers of the department expressed their willingness to develop international cooperation and implement joint projects aimed at training highly qualified specialists.
