On 21st of November, 2022 within the “Quality week” at West Kazakhstan Innovative Technological University, Languages and Management Department, Associate professor, Candidate of Philological Sciences Amanbayeva Zaure Zhienaliyevna, “Foreign languages and translation studies” chair, conducted the practical class (seminar) with the 2nd course students of the Translation Studies. The topic of the seminar was «Semiosiology(Types and sources of Homonyms, Synonyms and Antonyms) and Semantic classification of phraseological units».
The aim of the demo-class was to project the theoretical background of the Homonyms, Synonyms and Antonyms; teach the students to apply them in practice and to translate them with different translation methods.
The seminar was the part of the Theoretical Linguistics. Assoc.prof. Zaure Zh.Amanbayeva, who studied at Oxford university, shared her own teaching experience with the students of 211 and 221 groups. She used various didactical handouts and flashcards to project the topic of Semasiology. The students worked in pairs and groups, giving feedback and communicated a lot. They found the seminar interesting and valuable. We hope such useful practical classes with the experienced lecturer would contribute in developing professional skills of the future Translators.
