January 30, 2024 at secondary school No.10 named after A. Baitursynov held a meeting between university instructors and 11-th grade graduates. The number of school graduates was 96 pupils, and 62 pupils were present. The purpose of the event is to provide career guidance to students in choosing a profession. During the meeting, the graduates were told the history of the institute, educational programs were offered, and educational buildings were shown through a video clip.

During the event, graduates were provided with information about changes in the UNT exam for 2024, introduced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education:

The number of subjects at the UNT remains the same, but in two compulsory subjects the number of questions has been reduced, and in specialized subjects, on the contrary, they have been added. Applicants for the class of 2024 are tested in three compulsory subjects and two elective subjects.

An important change concerns the reduction of the number of tasks in the compulsory subjects “Reading Literacy” and “Mathematical Literacy” by 5 questions in 2024. This allowed us to increase the number of questions on core subjects to 40. At the same time, 5 tasks have been added in specialized subjects to match the choice from the list.

Thus, the number of tasks for UNT-2024 remains unchanged – 120, including 20 tasks on “History of Kazakhstan”, 10 tasks on “Reading Literacy”, 10 on “Mathematical Literacy” and 40 tasks on two core subjects. The maximum number of points also remains unchanged – 140 points.

Testing time is 4 hours (240 minutes). It is important to note that the extra 40 minutes will remain for children with special educational needs.

Applicants who have chosen creative fields, as in previous years, take the UNT in two subjects:

  • “History of Kazakhstan” (20 tasks, threshold score – 5),
  • “Reading literacy” (10 tasks, threshold score – 3).

Time to complete tasks is 70 minutes. Creative exams will be held in universities.
