On January 22, 2025, representatives of the National Security Committee, a professional theologian and the police service of the West Kazakhstan region gave the 3rd year students of the 6B04202 “Jurisprudence” educational program at the “Jurisprudence” department. A guest lecture was held with the participation of the representative of the fight against extremism. The event took place in a free format, participants, students and teachers of the department exchanged opinions. The theologian emphasized the problem of destructive religious currents, their threat to the integrity of society and the state. It was said that the principles of his actions are based on destruction, not creation. In addition, it was mentioned that some organizations have in common that they interpret the Qur’anic verses and hadiths literally without allowing for critical thinking or any philosophy. Giving examples, he considered the issues of which organizations are banned in Kazakhstan, for example, “Takfir al-Hijra”, “Taliban”, “Tablighi Jamaat”, “Hizb ut-Tahrir”, “Salafism.
At the end of the event, we were all invited to contact the police about religious organizations in case we come across the activities of banned movements in Kazakhstan.
