On December 8, 2023, within the framework of the signed Memorandum of Cooperation between the ZKITU and the Police Department of the West Kazakhstan Region, a guest lecture was held on the topic: “Features of the pre-trial investigation of criminal offenses committed by minors” by the senior investigator of the Investigative Department of the DP in the West Kazakhstan region, police Lieutenant Colonel Kasimova Sholpan with students of the Educational programs 6B04202 Jurisprudence, 6B04207 Judicial and prosecutorial activities and 6B04203 Legal regulation of transportation, movement and operation of motor vehicles.

In her lecture, Kasimova Sh. noted that minors who have committed a criminal offense have a special status, according to chapter 56 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.Thus, according to Article 80 of the CPC, these norms apply to minors who were fourteen years old at the time of the commission of the offense but had not turned eighteen years old.

Attention was drawn to the circumstances to be established in cases of this category, ensuring the protection of the rights of a minor with the participation of a lawyer, a teacher-psychologist, and a legal representative.

The lecturer spoke about the procedure for conducting investigative actions with them, considering criminal cases in juvenile courts and applying punishments to minors for committing criminal offenses in accordance with Article 81 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Senior investigator Kasimova Sh. provided examples from her practice and answers to students’ questions.
