On February 9, 2026, an informational and explanatory meeting was held at the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Technosphere Safety of the Institute of Industrial Technologies of WKITU, dedicated to discussing the draft of the updated Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event was conducted by Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor Rakhmetov T.Kh., and Senior Lecturer Kuatbek G.K. of the Department of Law. During the meeting, the faculty members of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Technosphere Safety were introduced to the main provisions, structure, and content of the draft Constitution. The discussion focused on key amendments aimed at strengthening the rule of law, expanding citizens’ rights and freedoms, enhancing the role of civil society institutions, and increasing the accountability of state bodies.
Particular attention was paid to innovations such as the development of the Kurultai institution, the activities of the Public Council (Halyk Kenesi), the establishment of everyone’s right to work and freely choose a profession, and the definition of marriage as a voluntary and equal union between a man and a woman, registered by the state in accordance with the law. The speakers also discussed proposals to reduce the number of Kurultai deputies to ensure more efficient use of public funds.
During the open discussion, participants asked questions and shared their views on the impact of the constitutional changes on the academic environment and the educational process. In conclusion, it was noted that the explanatory work contributed to improving the legal awareness of the faculty and promoting an active civic position among students.
The final decision on the draft of the updated Constitution will be put to a nationwide vote, during which the citizens of Kazakhstan will determine its final version and the procedure for its implementation.
