On April 2, 2024, chess and draughts competitions were held in the assembly hall of the Institute of Industrial Technologies of the West Kazakhstan University of Innovation and Technology, in which more than 30 participants took part. The event was organized and conducted by senior teachers of the Department of general education disciplines Shalaev B.B., Ertleu K.M., Utebaliev M.M.

The purpose of the event is to arouse the interest of students in chess, hone skills, give the right direction for effective leisure and promote a healthy lifestyle. These sports are suitable for absolutely everyone, and are ideal for students. In chess and checkers, as in other sports, character, talent, willpower, endurance, physical fitness, skill, and sports spirit must be organically combined.

Therefore, these types deservedly and reasonably relate to sports competition, since they require colossal loads and good comprehensive training.

As a result, the most interesting and emotional competitions were distributed as follows:

The first place in chess was taken by Nagashybai. A., student of the group JR-11, second place – Khalfaev. I., student of the group OP – 22, third place – Smailbekov A., student of the group JR-11.

The first place in drafts was also won by Nagashybai A., a student of the group JR-11, the second place – Nurylbekuly A., a student of the group VET-11, the third place – Orynbasar N., a student of the group VET – 11.
