On October 22, 2026, a scientific round table entitled “Artificial Intelligence as a Factor in the Transformation of Modern Engineering Technologies” was held at the Institute of Industrial Technologies of West Kazakhstan University of Innovation and Technology. The event was organized by the Department of Energetics, Automation and Computing.

The event brought together the academic staff of the department and students enrolled in the educational programs 6B06104 – “Computer Engineering and Information Systems”, 6B07105 – “Automation and Control”, and 6B07102 – “Electric Power Engineering”. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the potential applications of artificial intelligence in modern engineering technologies and its impact on the development of industry, automation, information systems, and the energy sector.

The round table opened with welcoming remarks by G.Sh. Utesheva, Head of the Department, and B.A. Sarguzhiyeva, Senior Lecturer responsible for the department’s research activities. They emphasized the importance of modern digital technologies in educating future specialists and the need to involve students in scientific research. The round table was coordinated and moderated by A.B. Kairanbayeva, Master of Technical Sciences and Senior Lecturer of the Department, who was responsible for organizing and conducting the event.

During the round table, students presented 11 scientific reports addressing current issues related to the integration of artificial intelligence into various fields of engineering.

The participants explored the potential of intelligent equipment failure prediction, automation of production processes, applications of machine learning, the development of smart factories, and digital management platforms. Particular interest was shown in the use of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan’s energy sector, sign language recognition, and the prospects for interaction between humans and intelligent systems in professional activities.

The students’ scientific reports were prepared under the supervision of the department’s academic staff: A.N. Shatekova, A.A. Nikolaev, T.M. Bertleuov, R.T. Kaderova, A.B. Kairanbayeva, B.A. Sarguzhiyeva, I.T. Abdrakhmanova, A.M. Sarsengaliyeva, and A.M. Gaineshova.

The presentations demonstrated the wide range of applications of artificial intelligence technologies and provided an opportunity to examine not only their advantages but also existing limitations, technological challenges, and prospects for further development.

Such scientific events contribute to the development of students’ research competencies, critical and engineering thinking, the exchange of scientific ideas, and increased interest in innovative technologies.

The scientific round table became an important part of the department’s efforts to promote student research and strengthen the connection between theoretical education, scientific research, and the practical application of modern engineering solutions.
