On December 3, 2025, students of the YR-42O group of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University took part in an off-site lesson and attended a court hearing on a criminal case related to fraud as part of their academic practice. The event was aimed at expanding the professional competencies of future lawyers.

The main purpose of attending the court hearing was to familiarize the students with the real procedure of conducting criminal proceedings, as well as to consolidate in practice the theoretical knowledge acquired during classroom studies.

During the court session, the students observed the work of the participants in the criminal process, which included:

– the presiding judge;

– the state prosecutor;

– the attorneys of the parties;

– the victim;

– the defendant.

As listeners in the courtroom, the students were able to clearly observe the order of the court proceedings, the sequence of the parties’ statements, and the process of examining the case materials.

As a result of participating in the court hearing, the students noted the high practical significance of the event. According to them, this experience allowed them to:

– see how the criminal process is conducted in practice;

– gain a deeper understanding of the functions and roles of each participant;

– observe the application of theoretical principles of criminal and criminal procedural law in a real situation;

– form a clear understanding of professional and ethical behavior in court.

Such practical activities contribute to a deeper understanding of the specifics of criminal proceedings, the development of professional thinking, and the formation of the necessary competencies for future lawyers.
