This year marks the 25-th anniversary of the formation of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University – one of the leading private universities and associations in the western region of the country. The results of the events within the framework of the anniversary were summed up today with the solemn event “Future-oriented Education!” The festive meeting was attended by Deputy Akim of the West Kazakhstan region Bakytzhan Narymbetov, head of the regional department of social development Gulzhanar Shukeeva, founders of the university, veteran teachers and faculty of the university, undergraduates and students.
Having started the first academic year with 4 specialties and about 60 students, over the past 25 years the educational institution has embarked on the path of quantitative and qualitative development. The structure of the university includes 2 institutes, 12 departments, a scientific library, an editorial and publishing department, educational and production departments. A quarter of a century of the university’s chronicle and outstanding achievements during the years of independence were reflected in an exhibition specially prepared for the anniversary. Guests invited to the gala event got acquainted for the first time with the best scientific works and new projects presented at the exhibition.
The educational institution, which opened in 1998 as the Institute of Humanities and Economics “Dauir”, was transformed into the West Kazakhstan Academy of Humanities in 2000. A video film about the history of the formation of the university was presented to the attention of those gathered. Then, on stage, the best graduates of the university, the chairman of the women’s wing at the regional branch of the AMANAT party, Gaukhar Shaikhiniyazova, and the head of the youth affairs department of the regional department of social development, Mirfat Bisekenov, held a presentation of the book “WKITU – history and a look into the future,” telling about the history of the first private university in the western region of the country. The publication presents a rich chronicle of education and formation, achievements of the teaching staff and students.
In honor of the anniversary, congratulations were addressed to the university from different quarters. The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, the Chairman of the Council of University Rectors Yerlan Sydykov, the President of the Association of Higher Educational Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Rakhman Alshanov expressed sincere wishes to the university staff.
A special emphasis on the history of the university was made by the deputy akim of the region, Bakytzhan Narymbetov, who especially noted the merits of the first rector, professor, Doctor of historical sciences Bayan Shintimirova on the path to the formation and development of the university.
At the gala evening, for their outstanding contribution to higher education and science of the country, a group of the university’s teaching staff was awarded the “Veteran of Labor”, “For Merit in the Development of Science” badges and diplomas of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The rector of the university, Candidate of technical sciences Bekbolat Shakeshev presented a group of colleagues with badges and letters of gratitude from the Association of Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Also, the founder of WKITU, Doctor of agricultural sciences, professor, Academician of the National Academy of Natural Sciences of Kazakhstan, Honorary rector of the West Kazakhstan Agricultural-Technical University named after Zhangir Khan Kazybai Bozymov made a welcoming speech, he noted that the history of the private university is closely connected with important milestones in the life of the country . He also congratulated the faculty and staff who worked tirelessly towards the development of the university on their anniversary.
WKITU is a fundamental scientific and educational complex that cooperates with foreign universities near and far abroad. In honor of the anniversary, congratulations were heard at the event from partner universities – Tajik State University of Commerce, Kalmyk State University after B.B. Gorodovikov, Orenburg State Pedagogical University, Udmurt State University, and a number of other universities near and far abroad, as well as domestic universities in the western region.
The ceremonial meeting ended with a festive concert program prepared by teachers, graduates and students of the university.
