In his address to the people of Kazakhstan on September 2, 2024, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokaev spoke about the “Taza Kazakhstan” environmental campaign. He recalled that the nationwide “Taza Kazakhstan” environmental campaign has been underway in our country since the spring. The campaign’s goal is to foster environmental awareness, promote the patriotic values of “honest man – honest work – honest income,” and respect for the environment. This, as the president noted, “is not a temporary campaign; this important project must continue for several years.” To introduce students to the comprehensive “Taza Kazakhstan” initiative, industry experts were invited to the university. They were Fariza Ayazbayevna Sultasheva, Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the West Kazakhstan Region; Sakhym Daurenbek, Chair of the Eco-Sakshi public association and environmental activist; and Nursultan Sarsenbayev, Deputy Head of the Youth Resource Center of the West Kazakhstan Region.

The invited speakers explained to the students that the “Taza Kazakhstan” campaign is not just a slogan, but a comprehensive program aimed at addressing the country’s pressing environmental issues. It includes a wide range of activities:

– Greening: systematically removing trash from cities, parks, forests, and reservoirs

– Landscaping: planting trees, shrubs, and creating new green spaces

– Water purification: combating pollution in rivers, lakes, and seas

– Environmental education: conducting educational events for all age groups

– Waste separation: implementing waste separation and recycling systems

– Biodiversity conservation: protecting rare and endangered plant and animal species

– For example, waste sorting, water and energy conservation, and respect for public spaces are very important. This should become the norm in our society. Particular attention must be paid to environmental education. This can be called one of the main focuses of the nationwide “Taza Kazakhstan” campaign.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev believes it is important to instill in every citizen, especially the younger generation, a culture of respect for nature and cleanliness.
