Today in the West Kazakhstan region an important event was held aimed at preventing religious extremism and terrorism – the debate tournament “Zhastar qalqany – 2025”. Students from 4 universities of our city took part in the tournament, demonstrating their knowledge and oratory skills.
The topic of the debate: “Is it necessary to radically change the education system to prevent religious extremism in Kazakhstani society?” Within the framework of this topic, students raised current problems of society and openly expressed their views.
It should be noted that the competition was not limited to debates, but was organized in 3 different areas:
- Competition “Best Article”
- Competition “Best Video”
- Debate Tournament
The best in each area were:
- In the debate tournament, the Lincoln Douglas team, representing WKITU, won 3rd place;
- In the nomination “Best Article”, the winner was a 2nd-year student of the Institute of Education and Management of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University, Duysengaliev Aidos, who presented a meaningful, analytical article against religious extremism.
- In the nomination “Best Video”, the winner was the team of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University, which, according to the jury, prepared a meaningful and creative video. All winners were awarded diplomas and valuable prizes.
The tournament is an important step towards developing creative thinking in young people, forming immunity to religious radicalism and forming a peaceful worldview.
