As part of the Quality Week “Digital Technologies in Education – as a Factor in Improving the Quality of Professional Training,” a master class on “Basketball: Effective Methods in Physical Education Lessons” was held at West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University. The master class was led by Zhumarstanov Kuanysh Omіrbekuly, Master of Pedagogy, senior lecturer at the Department of Physical Education and Informatics.
The master class’s objectives were to increase knowledge of modern basketball teaching methods; improve ball handling, passing, and shooting techniques; develop teamwork and tactical thinking; and foster interest and motivation for basketball.
Through practical training, using effective basketball methods, the quality of the educational process was enhanced, and students’ cognitive and motor activity was improved. A combination of visual, game-based, and differentiated teaching methods took into account each student’s individual abilities, ensuring effective lessons. While mastering the elements of basketball, students developed skills in physical fitness, motor coordination, speed, and agility. Furthermore, this game contributed to the development of personal qualities such as group interaction, discipline, responsibility, and leadership.
Thus, the systematic use of effective methods in basketball lessons is an important tool for achieving the educational goals of physical education, fostering a healthy lifestyle, and developing a sports culture.
