On October 15, 2025, Professor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Technosphere Safety at the Institute of Industrial Technologies of ZKITU, Doctor of Biological Sciences S.G. Kanatbaev organized a guest lecture for students of the VET-41, VET-42 OP Veterinary group, which was conducted by a researcher at the West Kazakhstan Scientific Research Station, a branch of the Kazakh Scientific Research Veterinary Institute LLP. Adilov “Epizootology and infectious diseases of animals” on the topic “Prevention and control measures against rabies in agricultural, carnivorous and wild animals”
During the lecture, detailed information was provided on the general characteristics of animal rabies, its main clinical signs, how it is transmitted from a sick animal to a healthy one, and measures to combat it and prevent diseases. In addition, since the main carriers of diseases are wild animals (wolves, foxes, badgers, minks, etc.), as well as stray dogs and cats, the students were shown a video made by the scientific staff of the West Kazakhstan Veterinary Research Station branch. Official data on human bites by stray dogs and cats over the past 3 years in the West Kazakhstan region, including in the city of Uralsk, are presented, and it was noted that it is very important to reduce the number of stray dogs and cats.
The lecture was very interesting and informative. The students asked the questions they were interested in, to which comprehensive answers were received.
