The department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies of the Institute of Education and Management of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University jointly with the Public Association of English Language Teachers of the West Kazakhstan Region “TEO” and with the support of the Department of Education of the West Kazakhstan Region and the Department of Education of Uralsk from January 29 to February 29, 2024 organized and conducted an inter-school lesson study: “Enhancing English Language Education Through Multi-Topic Lesson Study: A Cross-School Investigation with Diverse Teachers and Students”
The goal of the project is to research classroom activities, improve teaching practices and improve student academic performance.
Senior Lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies, MA Samigolla Nurzharkyn Aibolatkyzy coordinated the project, which took place in 3 city schools: Gymnasium of aesthetics, Gymnasium №42 Akniet, the school-lyceum №28, and in 2 West Kazakhstan region schools: “Shagan secondary school”, a specialized school-gymnasium named after Abai for gifted children. Nurzharkyn Aibolatkyzy advised teachers on research actions during the lesson study and showed the ways of improving the effectiveness of the English lessons.
Rakhimzhanova Muldir Dzhanbolatovna, 2nd year Master’s student of the EP 7M01702-Foreign language: two foreign languages of the Department of Foreign languages and Translation Studies conducted a demo-lesson on the topic “Integration of subjects in teaching English” at the Shagan secondary school on February 8, 2024. She successfully used STEAM technology in teaching English and integrated the scientific-research foundations of the dissertation with the lesson, applying them effectively in practice. This project will end on March 5, and the results of the lesson study would be published in an international scientific journal in May.
