On March 31, 2026, a meeting of the Academic Committee was held at the Department of Petroleum Engineering, aimed at improving educational programs and enhancing the quality of specialist training.

The meeting was attended by members of the Academic Committee — K.T. Mergaliyev, K.A. Bayanov, the faculty members, as well as students. Such broad participation made it possible to comprehensively discuss актуальные issues of the educational process, taking into account the views of all stakeholders.

During the meeting, the current educational programs of the Department of Petroleum Engineering were reviewed, including their compliance with modern industry and labor market requirements, as well as directions for further development. Particular attention was paid to the introduction of relevant disciplines focused on sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

Following the discussion, a decision was made to introduce a new discipline related to environmental safety in the oil and gas industry into the educational programs. This initiative is aimed at developing students’ professional competencies in rational use of natural resources, minimization of environmental risks, and implementation of modern environmentally friendly technologies.

The decisions made will contribute to improving the quality of the educational process, strengthening practice-oriented training, and ensuring that educational programs meet current requirements of the oil and gas industry.
