On October 15 of 2026, lecturers of the Department of Natural Sciences, Rоza Maratovna Bakesova and Ayagoz Sarsenbayevna Mendigaliyeva, conducted a lesson in the discipline “Methods of Teaching the Subject ‘Knowledge of the World’” for students enrolled in the educational program 6B01301 – Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education. The lesson took place at the West Kazakhstan Regional Ecological and Biological Center.
During the practical lesson, Fiyagul Kubinovna Kaumbayeva, Head of the Plant Cultivation Department, introduced the students to the history of the center, its main areas of activity, and the specifics of its work. She spoke about the institution, which is widely known among local residents by its former name, the “Young Naturalists’ Station,” and explained its role in nature conservation, the study of plant and animal life, and environmental education.
During the lesson, the students learned about various plant species, their growth characteristics, and their importance in nature. In the center’s greenhouse, they observed tropical plants and learned about their distinctive features. In particular, they became acquainted with Anredera, a tropical climbing vine, and Bougainvillea, which is distinguished by its beautiful pink flowers. Special attention was paid to growing plants in greenhouse conditions, maintaining appropriate temperature and humidity levels, and following proper watering and plant care practices.
In addition, the students learned how to properly prepare trees for winter, protect them from cold weather, care for their branches, and carry out seasonal maintenance activities.
At the center’s zoo, the students explored various animal species and learned about the specific requirements for their care. They were informed about proper animal feeding, providing clean drinking water, maintaining clean habitats, creating suitable living conditions, and monitoring animal health. Attention was also given to responsible treatment of animals and compliance with safety regulations.
The main objective of the lesson was to reinforce students’ theoretical knowledge of the discipline “Methods of Teaching the Subject ‘Knowledge of the World’,” broaden their understanding of plant and animal life, and develop the environmental awareness of future primary school teachers.
Such practical lessons contribute to enhancing students’ professional competence, fostering a respectful attitude toward nature, and developing a sense of responsibility for environmental protection. They also help students apply the knowledge and skills they acquire in their future teaching practice.
