Several generations studied in Latin script which reached considerable achievements developing Kazakh literature, culture and science and they are still in demand. But today Kazakh people face the task of joining the 30 most competitive countries which in turn requires revision of many directions in the development of the country including changes in the alphabet.

On April 25 the staff of the Department of arts and national traditions in cooperation with the librarians of the reading room of the Uralsk library held a talk on “Transition to the Latin alphabet – the core of the national reconstruction” within the framework of the program article of the Head of state of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev “Looking to the future: modernization of public consciousness”.

Librarians of the Department conducted explanatory work with students of the 1st year of the faculty of Economics and foreign languages on the issue “Transition of the state language to the Latin script”. The issue of transition to the Latin alphabet is dictated by the requirements of the” scientific and educational process of the XXI century”, the language should be modern and actively used in all spheres of society.

The participants of the meeting were acquainted with the decree of the President of Kazakhstan “on the transition of the Kazakh alphabet from Cyrillic to Latin script” dated October 26, 2017 №569, considered the new format of the alphabet and shared their thoughts. Head of Department of cultural leisure work Associate Professor Zh. Hairushin answered questions of the audience.

At the end of the meeting, the participants came to a consensus that the policy of our President is deliberate, and is fully focused on the development of our country.

During the event, a video was shown and a review of the book exhibition was held.
