Working meeting with employees of the Department of Business and Trade at the British Embassy in Astana was held at the West Kazakhstan University of Innovation and Technology.

The visit of representatives of the British Embassy was organized as part of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of sustainable agricultural development.

The delegation included:

* Beth McKendrick-Director of the Department of Business and Trade at the British Embassy in Astana

* Meruert Kairbekova – Head of the Agricultural Department

The event covered a wide range of issues, including the current state of development of the agro-industrial complex of the West Kazakhstan region, the research activities of WKITU and prospects for interaction with British scientists and business.

The meeting was moderated by Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KazNAEN, MIA Kazybai Karaevich Bozymov. The discussion was attended by the university’s management, leading scientists, employees of the agricultural innovationand technology park and research centers.

During the visit, the delegation visited a number of successful farms of the Akzhaik district, where they got acquainted with the best practices in breeding Kazakh white-headed cattle, Akzhaik cross-breed meat-wool and Edilbai sheep breeds, as well as Kushum horses.

The parties stressed the importance of sharing experience, implementing joint research projects, academic mobility and introducing innovative approaches in the agricultural sector. The visit ended with an agreement on developing partnership relations and working out specific areas for future cooperation.
