On March 28, 2024, within the framework of the instructions of the Head of State Tokaev K.K. at the III National Kurultai, the akimat of the West Kazakhstan region and the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University organized a republican scientific and practical conference “History of Kazakh statehood – on ancient maps.” The conference was attended by a famous scientist, Doctor of Political Sciences, professor, Director of the Institute of Modern Studies of the L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University Mukhit-Ardager Karzhaubaevich Sydyknazarov. The conference began with a welcoming speech from the Deputy Akim of the West Kazakhstan region Narymbetov B.Kh. Conference moderator, Doctor of Philology, professor of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University Sabyr M.B. explained the purpose and significance of the conference and gave the floor to the speakers. Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor, Honorary Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Rysbekov T.Z. in his report focused on the importance of using ancient maps as sources in the history of Kazakh statehood.
Professor Sydyknazarov M.K. in his report “Continuous statehood of Kazakhstan in the stream of history. The Kazakh state on European and American maps of the 15th-19th centuries” presented the results of his scientific research on the review and analysis of maps collected in libraries and archives of European and American countries.
Professor of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University, Candidate of Historical Sciences Kurmanalin S.B. presented a report on the topic “The importance of the history of Kazakh statehood in the formation of national identity.” A report on the topic “Problems of teaching and modern research of historical geography at universities” was presented by Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor A.S. Tasmagambetov. Doctor PhD, associate professor of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University Kalmenov M.D. made a report on the topic “Cartographic data on medieval settlements along the Zhaiyk river.” This conference aroused great interest among all participants – students, university instructors and the scientific community.
