From January 29 to February 29, 2024, a senior lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies of the Institute of Education and Management of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University Samigolla Nurzharkyn Aibolatkyzy together with AO “Orleu” – “Institute of Professional Development for the West Kazakhstan Region”, the public association of English language teachers “TEO” with the support of the Education Departments of Uralsk and West Kazakhstan conducted an inter-school research project on the topic: “Enhancing English Language Education Through Multi-Topic Lesson Study: A Cross-School Investigation with Diverse Teachers and Students”.The project’s goal is to develop a dual educational program, develop higher education institutions, and expand collaboration between schools, study “Lesson study” in schools, and develop research on English language teaching methodology in the field.

Samigolla Nurzharkyn observed the process of conducting lessons in three schools in Uralsk: School No. 16, a gymnasium of aesthetic orientation, School No. 1, as well as in two schools of the West Kazakhstan region: the Regional Specialized School-Gymnasium-Boarding school named after Abai for gifted children, and the Chagan School, and provided consultations on conducting “Lesson study” and improving the effectiveness of English language classes. A second-year master’s student in foreign language studies at the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University, Muldir Rakhimzhanova, a teacher at the Chagan School participated in the project. During the research project, each school received various topics as a way to solve current teaching problems. “Lesson study” was conducted in three cycles, during each of which teachers developed a lesson plan depending on the chosen topic, discussed the lesson with observers after the class, discussed changes to be made in the next cycle, and interviewed students. At the end of the three cycles, a report was prepared, and on March 14, the final results were presented at a seminar at the “Institute of Professional Development for the West Kazakhstan Region” under AO “Orleu”. The seminar was attended by 25 English language teachers from Uralsk, as well as 70 people online from the West Kazakhstan region.
