The Department of Philology and Teaching Methods is a structural unit of the Institute of Education and Management of the West Kazakhstan University of Innovation and Technology and trains students in the following bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs:
EDUCATIONAL AND METHODOLOGICAL WORK
The purpose of the educational and methodological work carried out at the department is to provide the necessary materials for the educational process, improve the pedagogical professional skills of the teaching staff, improve the classroom and independent work of students, improve all types and effective methods of educational and methodological work. Educational and methodological work is carried out in accordance with the basic standards and curricula of educational programs, standard rules of professional requirements, educational programs. The teaching staff of the department actively participates in educational and methodological seminars on improving the teaching methods of courses corresponding to the direction and profile of the department, new information technologies and innovative methods in education, organizing independent work of students, improving the level of professional and methodological skills.
The teaching staff of the department conducts innovative lessons in the form of master classes, business games, presentations, scientific projects, press conferences, discussions using multimedia technologies.
Every year, the teaching staff of the department publishes scientific monographs, textbooks, teaching aids, teaching aids and methodological guidelines.
The department conducts classes in the following branches: Uralsk, secondary school No. 19, private primary school “Zhaiyk daryny”, private primary school “Sana”, University school for children “Zein”, secondary school No. 30 named after X. Dospanova , Yesensai Secondary School-kindergarten, Ural Higher College of Humanities and Economics, Khamza Yesenzhanov Regional Library for Children and Youth.
In order to implement the academic mobility program, scientists from universities of the near and far abroad in philology and pedagogy are invited within the framework of the “Visiting Professor” program. Field classes, as well as practical classes and master classes with the invitation of stakeholders are held at the department and in the branches of the department.
RESEARCH WORK
The Department of Philology and Teaching Methods the teaching staff conducts scientific and methodological research in the field of philology, including Kazakh philology (Kazakh language and literature), methods of primary education (Kazakh language and literature, music). The department has a methodical office equipped with modern innovative equipment, a Center for Turkology and Altai Studies, a Scientific research center named after Academician Kazhim Zhumaliev, a cabinet of Kazakh and Turkish languages, instrumental performance, a cabinet of basic musical instruments, a cabinet of choral studies. The centers and classrooms are equipped with devices and equipment for conducting scientific research by scientists, teachers, undergraduates and students. 1 scientific school has been established at the Department of Philology and Teaching Methods.
Sabyr M. B. is a Turkologist, Doctor of Philology, Professor.
“Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan” (2004), winner of the grant
“The best university teacher” (2007, 2012). He was awarded the badges “Til Zhanashyry” (2017), “For merits in the development of science” (2019) for achievements in the spiritual and social development of independent Kazakhstan and contribution to the field of education and the “Certificate of Honor” of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2018).
Scientific works are devoted to the study of the history, theory of the Kazakh language, the language of monuments of medieval writing, Oriental studies, Turkology, Kypchak studies.

Professor Sabyr M. B. participates in the implementation of scientific projects at the national and international levels. Thus, as a member of the international research team created on the initiative of B. B. Gorodovikov Kalmyk State University, he is working on a project on the topic “Turkic-Mongolian linguistics: traditions and innovations” (2020-2023). The executor of the State Scientific Project on the topic: AR09260438 “The national character of sectoral knowledge in Turkic linguistic and cultural units (based on the material of the languages of the Kipchak-Oguz group)” for grant funding for scientific and technical projects for 2021-2023 (Institute for the Development of the state language. Almaty), the executor of the project “Literary monuments of the Golden Horde: linguistic and artistic depiction of the world (IRN AR08856415), planned for 2020-2022 (Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai).
The department also conducts scientific research on contractual, complex, initiative topics, as well as on scientific topics of undergraduates and doctoral students. Teachers of the department take an active part in international and national scientific conferences, forums, meetings, and take prizes. Teachers of the department publish scientific articles in rating publications included in the international Web of Science database, Scopus, as well as in publications recommended by the KKSON of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation. There are acts of implementation in the educational process and production. Every year, the University hosts international scientific conferences of young scientists, as well as international scientific and practical conferences as part of the implementation of plans for creative cooperation in joint research with foreign partners.
The University successfully operates the centers “Center of Turkology and Altai Studies”, “K.Zhumaliev Scientific Research Center”, the main purpose of which is to organize, methodological support and ensure the effectiveness of scientific, scientific and practical innovation in the field of philology, pedagogy and services. In these centers, within the framework of these fields of science, scientists, students and undergraduates conduct research, consulting and others conduct research, consulting and other activities in the main areas of the Department of Philology and Teaching Methods.
Students and undergraduates of the department take an active part in research work, are members of the circles “Zerde”, “Young Librarian”, “Young Poet”. Every year, students of the department participate in the republican competition of research papers organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and are holders of diplomas.
PRACTICE
According to the educational programs of the department, students and undergraduates undergo pedagogical and industrial practice in selected organizations and institutions of the region and the city. In particular, in the West Kazakhstan region, 80% of graduates of the department are employed in secondary schools and high-level colleges, the regional scientific and universal library named after J. Moldagaliev, the regional children’s library named after H. Yesenzhanov, the West Kazakhstan University named after M. Utemisov, etc.
