From October 31 to November 2, 2025, the World Shotokan Karate Championships were held in Sofia, Bulgaria, under the auspices of the World Shotokan Federation. A fourth-year WKITU student Madina Alimanova (EP 6B01401 – Physical Education and Sports, group FKS-421) became the world champion in Shotokan karate in the 55 kg weight category (kumite division).
Madina Alimanova is a Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a black belt holder, 1st dan, a multiple champion of Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and international tournaments, a bronze medalist at the Asian Championships, a bronze medalist at the 1st CIS Games, a bronze medalist at the BRICS Games, and a silver medalist at the 13th Summer Universiade among students of the Republic of Kazakhstan in karate-do.
