On November 14, 2022, a practice-oriented lesson was held for 2nd year students of the educational program 6B09103 “Veterinary” at the “Educational and scientific complex of experimental and industrial production of aquaculture” -Ural Sturgeon Factory LLP.

This enterprise has been operating since 2013 and today it is engaged in breeding commercial sturgeon and producing black caviar. The technical and scientific base of the enterprise, which has no analogues in the country, the area of the aquaculture complex is more than 13 thousand square meters.

“Educational and scientific complex of experimental and industrial production of aquaculture” -Ural Sturgeon Factory LLP  has a unique gene pool of sturgeon, both purebred and hybrid species. Currently, the enterprise has 9 species of sturgeon (Russian sturgeon, Siberian sturgeon, beluga, sterlet, spike, Russian-Siberian sturgeon, Lena-Russian sturgeon, sturgeon).

During the lesson, students were introduced to the rules of safety in the workplace, fish care, determining the breed of fish, measuring its weight and length, and studies using ultrasound to determine the maturity stage of caviar.
