On December 17-18, 2024, the Department of Energy, Automation, and Computer Technology, in collaboration with Tambov State Technical University, hosted the First International Engineering School on the topic: “Smart Grids and Digital Technologies in Energy.”

The heads of the International Engineering School were representatives of FGBOU VO “TSTU” – Alexander Viktorovich Kobelev, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Head of the Department of “Electrical Power Engineering,” and WKITU – Gulnara Shaukatovna Utesheva, Master of Technical Sciences, Head of the Department of “Energy, Automation, and Computer Technology.”

Doctors and candidates of sciences, researchers, degree seekers, professors, postgraduates, master’s students, and undergraduates were invited to participate in the conference.

Over the course of two days, participants actively discussed the current trends in digital energy development, shared experiences, examined challenges in modern energy systems, and explored the specifics of creating digital platforms and energy efficiency solutions. Presentations by Russian and international researchers and scientists were delivered, addressing relevant topics such as the implementation of smart grids, the digitalization of energy systems, and improvements in energy efficiency.

At the conclusion of the school’s program, both parties agreed to hold additional joint events in the future and to continue collaborating in research and education. Specifically, they decided to create joint research projects aimed at developing innovative technologies in energy, as well as to facilitate knowledge exchange between professors and students of both universities.

Additionally, participants emphasized the importance of integrating digital technologies into the educational process and the necessity of training highly qualified specialists capable of addressing the challenges of modern energy systems. Joint seminars, professional development courses, and internships for students and faculty have been planned.

The organization of such events contributes to strengthening international ties, exchanging advanced knowledge and practices, and fostering sustainable partnerships between universities. The organizers expressed confidence that the International Engineering School will become a regular event, bringing together leading experts and young specialists in energy and digital technologies.
