Within the framework of the program “Rukhani zhangyru” in WKITU there was an action “Day of Asyk atu”, organized by the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the West Kazakhstan region.

The participants of the action were greeted by the vice-rector for educational work of  WKITU, Master of Ecology Abekeshev A.I. He noted the important role of national sports in the spiritual and physical development of youth.

According to Abekeshev A.I. this action, attended by students of the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University, was aimed at the popularization and development of national sports among young people.

As the chief specialist of the department of mass sports of the regional administration Sagatov Azilkhan noted, the game Asyk atu in our region has spread not so long ago, just three years ago, but has already become quite popular among young people. At the moment about 40 sportsmen in the region are professionals in this sport.

In the course of the action, the coaches of Children’s Sports School of National Sports conducted an indicative training session for Asyk atu for students, explained the rules and conditions of the game. Then four teams consisted of 6 people held the first trial competitions.

It should be noted that for the years of Kazakhstan’s Independence, the ancient national game of the Kazakhs Asyk atu not only revived, but also turned into a professional sport.
