On October 4, 2022, the Department of “Power Engineering, Automation and Computer Engineering” of the Faculty of Engineering and Humanities at the Ural Transformer Plant organized a practical lesson on the discipline “Electric machines” on the topic “Parallel operation of the transformer”, on the discipline “Reliability of power supply systems” on the topic “Reliability of electrical equipment” for students of the 3rd year of OP 6V017102 – “Electric Power”.”, in the discipline “Lighting equipment” on the topic “Calculation of lighting installations by the method of light flux utilization factor”.

The students and teachers were welcomed by the Production Director N.I. Usmanov. The safety engineer familiarized students and teachers with the safety rules at the plant.

Practical classes at the plant were conducted by associate professors Zakharov V.P. and Sadykova L.A., senior lecturer of the department Buranova N.G. At a practical lesson on the discipline “Electric machines”, students were told about the work of each workshop. Also, the students got a complete picture of the transformer and saw the configuration of each component of the transformer. At the plant, students were able to see with their own eyes how the work of the plant with a full production cycle is organized. In the discipline “Reliability of power supply systems”, the students were familiarized with the operation of equipment that can work smoothly, but may fail at some point. The students gave definitions of the basic concepts of reliability, named the main causes of damage, managed to calculate the recovery time of equipment, clearly understood the correct organization of the system of repairs and prevention of electrical equipment, which increases the reliability of the entire electric power system of the plant. According to the discipline “Lighting equipment”, students were given the task to visually measure the area of the workshop, sections, record the number of lighting devices, the number of rows on this site, the distance from the lamp to the work surface. The students named the main methods of lighting calculation. And the method of using the luminous flux was given the task: to find the luminous flux of the lamp.
